Form 1095-A Health Insurance Marketplace Statement.

Some Taxpayers Received Wrong Tax Info from Health Insurance Marketplace

1) Approximately 800,000 taxpayers received an incorrect form 1095-A.

2) Form 1095-A is the Health Insurance Marketplace Statement.

3) You receive this form if you enrolled in a health insurance plan through the Marketplace

4) You only need the form if you received a subsidy or want to claim the Premium Tax Credit.

5) HealthCare.gov says “If your form is affected by this issue, you’ll get a call and email from us in the next few days, and you will get a message in your Marketplace account here on HealthCare.gov.”

6) If you received an incorrect form you should wait for the corrected one to file your taxes. If you can’t wait, and want to find the proper amount that applied to your household in 2014, you have 2 options:

a)  Use this tool to find that amount

b)  Call the Marketplace Call Center at 1-800-318-2596 (TTY: 1-855-889-4325)

7)  If you have already filed your tax return with the incorrect information then:

a)  The Treasury Department has announced that they will not try to collect any underpaid amounts because of the error.

b)  You may want to file an amended return if you would have been due a larger refund or owe a smaller amount.
